Step 4 — Tour Navigation Setup

by Space Tour

In Space Tour, there are three navigation types, not counting standard scene-to-scene transitions via hotspots.

Main and Horizontal navigation are configured in the global tour settings — click the gear icon in the top-right corner of the editor.

We’ve already covered global tour settings in Step 1, so here we’ll focus specifically on navigation.

Let’s open the settings and review the two navigation types that work with groups.

1. Main Navigation (Group-Based)

Main navigation appears in the bottom-right corner of the screen as a dropdown list.

Once enabled, users can switch between scene groups.

Main navigation options

  • Enable or disable navigation with a single toggle
  • Assign an icon to each group (via group settings)
  • Change group order using drag & drop
  • Hide groups from navigation using the visibility (eye) icon

Main navigation is best suited for clear, structured movement between major sections of a tour.

2. Horizontal Navigation (Group-Based)

Horizontal navigation is displayed at the bottom center of the screen and works as a slider (left / right navigation).

When enabled, users move between groups using swipe gestures or navigation buttons.

Key option: “Preserve order”

Horizontal navigation includes an important setting — Preserve order.

How it works

  • Assume you have 2 groups, each containing 3 scenes.
  • If Preserve order is disabled, switching groups always opens the first scene of the next group.
  • If Preserve order is enabled, scene order is maintained:
  • from the 2nd scene of Group 1, the user moves to the 2nd scene of Group 2.

This logic is especially useful for aerial panoramas, where multiple viewpoints exist at the same height but belong to different groups.

Important

In horizontal navigation, the camera orientation is also preserved if the north direction is set correctly.

This behavior is explained in detail in this update: Update v1.2

3. Vertical Navigation (Scene-Based, Inside a Group)

Vertical navigation is used to move between scenes within a single group.

It appears on the left side of the screen and is configured individually for each group.

Key characteristics

  • Vertical navigation can be enabled for one group and disabled for another
  • Only scenes from the current group are displayed

Typical use cases

  • panoramas shot from different heights (e.g., 60 m and 100 m);
  • views from different floors (e.g., 3rd and 6th floors);
  • multiple viewpoints within the same logical section.

Combining Navigation Types

This is how navigation works in Space Tour — but you are free to combine all navigation types in any way you want, depending on your project goals and creative approach.

Possible scenarios

  • different renovation or design levels;
  • alternative wall color schemes;
  • furniture variations;
  • multiple showroom configurations;
  • alternative concepts of the same space.

Navigation combinations are virtually unlimited.
